Hotly debated but rarely seen, Aronofsky’s third feature has divided critics and audiences alike. Hugh Jackman plays three roles, Tomas, a Conquistador searching for the Fountain of Youth, Tommy, a scientist desperately trying to the cure the cancer killing his wife and Tom, an astral traveller hurtling through space towards a dying star. The three stories, that may be real, imagined or allegorical, converge into one truth, as warrior, scientist and explorer come to terms with life, love, death and rebirth.
