Selected here are three films that helped launch the career of Australian director Peter Weir (b.1944) internationally. Weir’s protagonists often find themselves strangers lost in even stranger lands. Surrounded by unease and the threat of impending chaos, they seek to make sense of their environs, even as it disintegrates around them.
