The Mercury and Iris Cinemas are run by the Media Resource Centre to enhance screen culture and to give screening opportunities to emerging South Australian film, video and digital media artists.

TICKET SALES

To purchase tickets in advance, call 8410 0979 between 9:00 - 5:30 Monday to Friday with your credit card handy.
OR Call into the MRC at
13 Morphett St Adelaide (behind the Mercury) between 9:00 -5:30 Monday to Friday

You can purchase movie tickets at the Mercury Cinema box-office half an hour prior to the advertised screening time.

MERCURY for hire

The Mercury and Iris Cinemas are available for hire. We offer highly competitive rates for your screening, conference, lecture or party. We can screen just about anything from 35mm CinemaScope to your Powerpoint or web based presentation. AND we can look after your catering and liquor requirements with the minimum of fuss!

the IRIS cinema

Iris Cinema

The revamped Iris Cinema is designed to really enhance digital works. It's the giant screen of micro cinemas with Surround Sound.

The Iris Cinema (adjacent to the Mercury Cinema) is a completely refurbished intimate (but expansive) affordable and comfortable environment.

 

Facilities and liquor licence:

Iris seating

The Iris will seat 38 people and has its own entrance, foyer, kitchen and bar facilities. The Mercury and Iris are fully licenced for events.

Technical facilities:

Can project film and/or data onto the 5.5metre x 2.8metre screen (wall to wall). Please note: image size depends on source material).

Source projectors:

16mm film or from the new Sony projector from: DVD, VHS tape, Beta Cam SP, DV or Mini-DV, TV, Computer or Internet (live or cached)

Sound:

Denon Dolby 6.1 Surround Sound feeding a 7.1 channel Krix custom loudspeaker installation to envelop the audience in maximum sound pleasure from any the above sources, as well as CD and Phono inputs.

Dedicated stage lighting, a lectern and other facilities make the Iris ideal for presentations, promotional events, lectures, performances, celebrations and of course all forms of screenings.

Skilled technicians will assist you and other staff are also available.
