ADELAIDE PREMIERE
THE AMERICAN ASTRONAUT (M)

Dir: Cory McAbee
US 2001 91mins 35mm
Space travel has become a dirty, yet musical, way of life dominated by derelicts, grease monkeys, thieves and hard-boiled interplanetary traders such as American Astronaut Samuel Curtis. A mission to a small outer-belt asteroid saloon leads Curtis to former dance partner and fruit thief, the Blueberry Pirate who possesses the gestating clone of a Real Live Girl. Curtis embarks on a series of trades across the solar system in pursuit of adventure and fortune while eluding nemesis Professor Hess. Bizarre, funny and packed with genuinely catchy music, this might be your only chance to see a Real Live Cult Movie!
