THE CHOIR (M)

Dir Michael Daive
Australia  2007  86mins
As he serves his time in a South African prison, young felon Jabulani Shabangu joins the resident choir in this inspirational documentary. While rehearsing for the annual inter-prison competition, Shabangu and the rest of the choir slowly absorb the dedication and sense of fraternity necessary to help them to survive not only their sentences, but the often more difficult lives that wait outside the prison walls. Not to be missed by anyone who saw War/Dance at the Mercury in 2008.
