The Mercury and Iris Cinemas are available for hire. We offer highly competitive rates for your screening, conference, lecture or party. We can screen just about anything from 35mm CinemaScope to your Powerpoint or web based presentation. AND we can look after your catering and liquor requirements with the minimum of fuss!

World of women film festival

The World of Women (WOW) Film Festival promotes the talents of women directors, producers, writers, editors and cinematographers in the Australian film industry and Oceania. It is a unique film festival that offers emerging and established filmmakers the opportunity to screen short works “seeing the world through the eyes of women”.

Session 1 will screen the finest documentaries addressing love, family and prejudice. Includes MY DAD SUSAN, NIGGER LOVERS (Winner of 2007 SBS IF Award for Best Short Documentary), THE EYE OF A LIE, and SEARCHING FOR SANDEEP (WOW Festival Documentary Winner).

Session 2 will screen the best drama and comedy – “To be human, no easy road…” and includes PLAYGROUND (WOW Festival Fiction Winner), BREAD, LOVEPROOF (WOW Festival Student Film Winner), KINDLE, SEX WITH EX, SINGLE SEXY BILINGUAL, and SEXY THING.

Guest speaker will be Oscar-Winning Australian producer Melanie Coombs.

7.30pm – Session 2: short drama selection (18+)
9.00pm – Finish

Tickets: $11 full / $9 conc. per session
$20 full / $15 conc. for both sessions and drinks/nibbles
